Ticket sales for the annual Hudson Division Awards Luncheon have been
brisk, and we are well on the way to a record turnout for the event.
You still have some time to join in the festivities, however, as we
have to finalize the number of attendees so that the caterer knows how
much food to order, we will need to cut off ticket sales after November
2nd!  So, please get your ticket orders in TODAY!!!

For those of you who who haven’t heard,  here’s another shameless plug
for what may be the best Awards Luncheon yet!

The Annual Hudson Awards Luncheon is fast approaching.  Please join me
in congratulating the 6 awardees and please support their achievement
by joining them at the 2015 Hudson Division Awards
Luncheon on November 8, 2015 from 12 noon – 4:00 pm.

This year the winners are:

Rachel Weiss AJ4WD  –  Amateur of the Year
Bruce Baccaro K2ULZ – Amateur of the Year
John Melfi W2HCB  –  Amateur of the Year
Hal Post AK2E  –  Grand Ol’ Ham
Jay Buscemi NY2NY  –  Grand Ol’ Ham
Blair Hearth KD2EPA – Technical Achievement

The Awards Luncheon, sponsored this year by the Bergen Amateur Radio
Association (BARA), will be held at:

MESON MADRID
343 Bergen Blvd
Palisades Park, NJ 07650

The catering hall is located just south of the George Washington
Bridge.

To purchase tickets, please go to the Hudson Division website
(http://hudson.arrl.org), print out the ticket order form, and mail it
in following the instructions on the page.

Here is the link to the order form:

http://hudson.arrl.org/2015-ticket-forms/

Tickets this year are $42.50 per person.

All proceeds this year will be donated to the ARRL Legislative Issues
Advocacy Fund.  Most money is raised by advertising sales.  The past 2
years we have raised nearly $10,000 that has been donated to the ARRL.
The money this year will once again be used to help offset the
expenditures we’ve been making in support of our HR-1301/S.1685
advocacy effort.

I hope to see you at the luncheon on Sunday, November 8, 2015!

At the October 3rd meeting of the ARRL Executive Committee in
Minneapolis,  I presented a check in the amount of  $8922.93 as a
donation to the ARRL Legislative Issues Advocacy Fund on behalf of the
Hudson Amateur Radio Council (HARC),

HARC was formed over 50 years ago to help support expenses incurred by
clubs sponsoring Division conventions.  Over the past 30 years,
conventions in the Hudson Division have become few and far between, due
to the costs associated with an event in the metropolitan New York area,
as well as finding clubs with the people to staff such an event. The
last convention was held in 2000.

Dave Popkin, W2CC, became the guardian of the HARC money that remained
after the last convention. As the group became inactive, Dave was savvy
enough to place the monies in a certificate of deposit that yielded the
substantial sum donated to the ARRL Legislative Issues Advocacy Fund.

The Division, and the League, is indebted to Dave for his stewardship
and grateful that he was willing to see these monies go to an extremely
worthy cause.

Thank you, Dave!
