To update you on HR-4969, The Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2014.
Last week we picked up two new cosponsors from the Hudson Division.
With the help of Michael O’Kane KB2OGI, we picked up Congresswoman
Grace Meng of Queens. And with the help of Ted Debowy AC2IR we picked
up Congressman Tim Bishop of Long Island. Please be sure to either
email them to say thank you, or call the District office to say thanks
for supporting HR-4969, The Amateur Radio Parity Act.
I also have received a disturbing complaint. It would appear that some
members have called their local representative and have been abusive to
the staff they’ve spoken to. Please, please, please DO NOT DO THIS!!!
We are all adults and we should be responsible when we talk up the
program. These folks will destroy any goodwill we have and certainly
no one will support us if they’ve been verbally abused, even by a
constituent. Please use your head when discussing HR-4969, as you are
an ambassador for Amateur radio. The impression you leave will stay
with them forever.
We have 47 cosponsors officially listed on the bill with commitments
from additional Representatives who joined on after the Congress went
into recess, we are at the 60 mark!
It is not too late to get involved. If your Congressional
representative has endorsed the bill by joining as a co-sponsor, please
email them a thank you for your support note. The cosponsors from our
Chris Smith (NJ-4)
Leonard Lance (NJ-7)
Donald Payne (NJ-10)
Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11)
Tim Bishop (NY-1)
Peter King (NY-2)
Steve Israel (NY-3)
Carolyn McCarthy (NY-4)
Grace Meng (NY-6)
Michael Grimm (NY-11)
Eliot Engel (NY-16)
Chris Gibson (NY-19)
Paul Tonko (NY-20)
Bill Owens (NY-21)
If your representative is not listed above, please send them an email
asking them to cosponsor HR-4969. Use the format that can be found on
the Hudson Division website.
