FD 2015 and HR 1301 Update

Hello,

Field Day beginS in just a few hours.  I hope everyone has a great time
participating in the largest test of Amateur Radio preparedness in the
world!

I’ll be visiting clubs in Northern New Jersey this year.
Vie-Director Bill Hudzik W2UDT will be traversing throughout Eastern
New York, and I know that our Section Managers, Pete Cecere N2YJZ, Jim
Mezey W2KFV, and Rich Krohn N2SMV will be out there as well.

I’d like to update you with the current push to get The Amateur Radio
Parity Act, a bill designed to get PRB-1 protections extended to all
forms of land use regulations, to become the law of the land.

As of this morning we have 83 cosponsors of the House Bill HR-1301.
This amounts to nearly 20% of the entire House of Representatives.

As of yesterday we now have a companion bill in the Senate.  S. 1685 is
the bill number and it is identical to the House version.

I was in Washington again last week talking to Senate staffers in
anticipation of the bill dropping.  Our reception was good and we
believe that the bill has an excellent chance of moving forward.

It is my hope that the bills will be marked-up in both houses of
Congress sometime later this year.

We will be starting a Senate letter writing campaign in the near
future, similar to the effort we’ve been making in the House of
Representatives.

Our success is very dependent on the participation of the membership,
so when we do ask for letters and emails, please participate.

That’s it for now.  Have a great Field Day!
